Mercedes-AMG just revealed a revised version of the W206-generation C-Class, which first debuted in 2021. This fiery new sedan, the 2023 Mercedes-AMG C 43, receives a number of changes for the new model year as it loses two cylinders, adds more power, and gains technology first used by the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. Mercedes-Benz Group AG boosted it net income by 3% in the first quarter, thanks to strong pricing, even as COVID-19, the semiconductor shortages and the war in Ukraine continued to impact the company.  Harald Wilhelm, left, Mercedes-Benz Group CFO, said the company’s product pricing played a critical role in driving profits. “In this challenging environment resilience and pricing power are crucial,” said Harald Wilhelm, Mercedes-Benz Group chief financial officer.  “Our sharpened focus is desirable top-end and electric vehicles, combined with ongoing cost discipline allowed us to deliver strong earnings despite numerous headwinds. Ford reported a net loss of $3.1 billion for the first quarter, largely due to the valuation of its Rivian investment.  Ford CEO Jim Farley said the company had a strong order book for the next quarter. The company reported revenue of $34.5 billion for Q1 and adjusted earnings of $2.3 billion. The red ink is due to what the company described  as a “mark-to-market” loss  of $5.4 billion on the company’s investment in Rivian.  Despite the accounting, the company confirmed its earlier 2022 earnings guidance — which calls for it to be well into the black: adjusted earnings of $11.5 billion to $12.5 billion, which could be as much as a 25% improvement over 2021.
